Cybersecurity startup Hilt announced it has raised $4.2 million in seed funding to develop software for detecting and stopping unusual data activity.

Cybersecurity startup Hilt has announced it has raised $4.2 million in seed funding. The company aims to help organizations detect and stop unusual data activity, including the theft of sensitive information.
The round was led by Array Ventures, with participation from Verdict Capital, Base10 Partners, Brickyard, Liquid 2 Ventures, Sequel, the Sarah Smith Fund, and Alumni Ventures. This funding brings Hilt's total raised to $4.7 million, including a prior $500,000 pre-seed round.
Hilt's software monitors data movement across cloud infrastructure, computers, and networks, establishing behavioral baselines for users and resources. It flags unusual activity, even when performed with valid permissions, without slowing down company systems, according to the company.
The startup's technology operates at the operating system's kernel level, streaming activity data to graph neural networks, a type of AI model, to identify anomalies. This approach provides visibility beneath various software applications, enabling deployment across diverse environments.
Hilt intends to use the new capital primarily for hiring and building market presence. The company, initially based in San Francisco, has relocated its team to Chattanooga, Tennessee.
