Cycling Event Combines Community, History for U.S. 250th Anniversary
The United Way Americana 250 Cycling Classic in Xenia, Ohio, on Oct. 11, will celebrate the U.S. 250th anniversary with cycling routes and family activities to raise funds.
XENIA, Ohio – The U.S. 250th anniversary will be celebrated this fall at the United Way Americana 250 Cycling Classic in Xenia, Ohio. The event on Sunday, Oct. 11, at the Greene County Fairgrounds and Expo Center will bring together cyclists, families, and community supporters.
The event combines cycling, local history, and family fun while raising money for United Way of the Greater Dayton Area, serving Montgomery, Greene, and Preble counties. Registration is now open, with four routes designed for everyone from casual family riders to experienced cyclists seeking a challenge.
Rides will begin and end at the fairgrounds. Participants can choose from the 10-mile "Liberty Ride" for families, the 25-mile "Pioneer Expedition," the 40-mile "Heritage Quest," or the 64-mile "Patriot Tour," a metric century route connecting several Greene County communities. The event is part of the well-known Tour de Gem Cycling Series and utilizes Greene County's extensive paved trail network.
While cyclists pay a registration fee, the "Heritage Hub" festivities on-site will be free and open to the public. Visitors can enjoy food trucks, vendor displays, and a bike course designed for small children. Proceeds from the event will support United Way programs.
