Cymat Technologies schedules investor webcast to discuss scandium-aluminum joint venture
Cymat Technologies will host an investor webcast on November 4 to provide details on a proposed joint venture with KAP Minerals for scandium-aluminum alloy production.

Cymat Technologies Ltd. has announced an investor webcast scheduled for November 4, 2026, to discuss the details of its memorandum of understanding with KAP Minerals Inc. The proposed joint venture aims to develop and commercialize scandium-aluminum master alloys at Cymat’s manufacturing facility in Mississauga.
CEO and Chairman Michael Liik stated that the project is intended to operate alongside the company’s existing plans to produce metal matrix composites for commercial aerospace clients. The addition of scandium to aluminum is known to significantly improve strength, fatigue resistance, and weldability without increasing weight, making it a target material for defense and high-end manufacturing applications.
The venture intends to extract scandium from tailings at a phosphate mine in Kapuskasing, Ontario. Cymat plans to utilize a proprietary alloying process designed to minimize environmental impact. The project has attracted interest from the Canadian government, which views the domestic processing of critical minerals as a strategic priority for building an integrated industrial supply chain.
The upcoming webcast will provide stakeholders with information on the project's rationale, the potential for government-backed financing, and an update on Cymat’s broader operations, including its aluminum foam business.
