Czech border authorities launch automated gate at Prague Airport
Prague’s Ruzyně Airport has deployed an automated biometric border control gate, developed by German company secunet Security Networks AG.
The Czech border police have commissioned an automated gate system, known as EasyGo, to streamline passenger processing at Prague Ruzyně Airport. The system, which integrates biometric verification, aims to reduce transit times for travelers while lowering the workload on border personnel.
Secunet Security Networks AG provided the technology as a subcontractor to VÍTKOVICE IT Solutions. The system functions by verifying the authenticity of electronic passports and comparing live facial images against the data stored within the biometric chip. If all security parameters are met, the gate allows passage in less than 15 seconds.
At the technical core of the gate is secunet’s 'biomiddle' software, which interfaces biometric hardware—such as camera systems and document scanners—with official background databases. This installation follows secunet’s previous deployment of similar 'EasyPASS' systems for the German Federal Police at Frankfurt Airport in 2009.
