Daicel Corporation launches new POM plastic series with recycled content

Daicel Corporation's High Performance Polymers (HPPs) division, formerly known as Polyplastics Co., Ltd., has introduced a new product line of DURACON® POM polyacetal plastics. The series incorporates 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) material and includes four distinct grades: standard, low-VOC, improved slip properties, and high-performance durability.
The company first showcased these new recycled POM grades at the CHINAPLAS 2026 exhibition in Shanghai in April. This development addresses the growing industry demand for more sustainable materials while maintaining the high mechanical properties characteristic of POM, such as strength, rigidity, and wear resistance.
Daicel Corporation's HPPs division has leveraged its extensive expertise in material formulation and quality control to ensure that the 30% recycled content does not significantly compromise the essential mechanical properties compared to virgin POM materials.
The new DURACON® POM grades are intended for use across various industrial sectors, including automotive and precision components, to support the increasing requirement for sustainable and environmentally conscious solutions.
