Osaka, Japan – Daicel Corporation's High Performance Polymers (HPPs) SBU has introduced four new DURACON® POM grades incorporating 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) material. The new offerings include standard, low VOC, sliding, and tough variants, aiming to cater to a variety of customer application requirements.

The development marks an expansion of Daicel's recycling initiatives. Since 2023, the company has offered its DURACIRCLE® re-compounding service, which recycles plastic scrap from customer plants. This new PCR-POM line extends the company's recycling efforts to include materials previously used in market applications.

A key challenge in utilizing PCR materials is ensuring consistent quality and managing property variability. Daicel reports that by leveraging its compounding expertise and quality control technologies, it has confirmed that the essential mechanical properties of these new recycled grades are comparable to those made from virgin POM.

DURACON® POM is recognized for its high mechanical strength, wear resistance, and dimensional stability, finding use in applications such as gears, connectors, precision parts, and automotive components. The company stated it intends to pursue further development to broaden its range of recycled POM offerings.
