French aircraft manufacturer Dassault Aviation delivered the first Rafale fighter jet to the Qatari Emiri Air Force on February 6, 2019, during a ceremony at its Mérignac facility.

The delivery adheres to the schedule set after Qatar signed a contract in May 2015 for 24 Rafale jets, with an additional 12 ordered in December 2017, bringing the total order to 36 aircraft.

As part of the agreement, Qatari pilots and technicians are undergoing training in France. The high-level attendance at the ceremony underscores the strategic partnership between Qatar and France.

Dassault Aviation has a century-long history in aircraft manufacturing, having delivered over 10,000 military and civil aircraft globally. In 2017, the company reported revenues of €4.8 billion.
