French aircraft manufacturer Dassault Aviation presented its mid-year update on July 22, 2026, detailing progress across its military and civil aviation programs. The company highlighted significant export achievements for its Rafale fighter jet and advancements in its business jet division.
The company reported a robust order backlog for the Rafale, with 208 units remaining to be delivered as of June 30, 2026. Ukraine finalized a roadmap for acquiring 16 Rafale aircraft on July 13, 2026. On the same date, Dassault Aviation and Harmattan AI announced a successful collaborative flight engagement between a Rafale and an unmanned aerial system equipped with an electronic warfare payload.
In India, the Defence Acquisition Council has decided to proceed with direct negotiations for 114 Rafale aircraft. Dassault Aviation is reinforcing its commitment to the 'Make in India' initiative by expanding its industrial footprint and partnerships within the country. The company is also exploring industrial schemes related to the potential 114-aircraft deal.
The Falcon 10X business jet completed its first flight on June 19, 2026, marking the start of its flight test campaign. This achievement positions Dassault Aviation as the sole aircraft manufacturer to fly a new aircraft of this size in 2026. The Falcon 10X is scheduled for entry into service in 2029, with 23 orders already secured by mid-year.
Regarding other programs, the Franco-German Future Combat Air System (FCAS/NGF) initiative has been halted, and France is pursuing alternative pathways for a future combat aircraft demonstrator. Dassault Aviation is also contesting Airbus Defence and Space's decision to terminate its participation in the Eurodrone contract.
