An emerging data leak on the dark web has surfaced, containing information connected to Indian conglomerate Reliance and the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant in Tamil Nadu, according to tech publication Medianama.

Reliance has confirmed a "partial breach" of data on a server hosted by a third-party provider, Yotta, Reuters reported. The company has not disclosed the nature of the breached data. Unnamed sources cited in the report indicate that the Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) has been in contact with Reliance regarding the incident, and India's CERT-In is reportedly investigating.

Medianama reports that the leaked data, accessible on the dark web, includes financial and payroll information, bank statements, tender documents, and human resources data such as resumes. The database is estimated to be 1.2 terabytes in size, containing over 858,000 files. Medianama states it could not independently verify the authenticity of all the leaked files.

The connection between Reliance and the nuclear plant stems from a 2018 contract worth over INR 10.81 billion (approximately $130 million USD) awarded to Reliance Group for work on the third and fourth units of the Kudankulam facility.

Cybersecurity researcher Rakesh Krishnan reportedly flagged the Reliance data leak on June 11. The same ransomware group is also believed to be behind a recent leak of data related to Tata Electronics potentially involving Tesla-related consumer information.
