DataCanvas Shifts Focus from AI Software to Computing Infrastructure
Chinese company DataCanvas has undergone a significant business model transformation, moving from AI software services to providing computing infrastructure solutions and cloud services.

Chinese company DataCanvas has executed a significant pivot in its business model, transitioning away from its original focus on AI software services towards computing infrastructure. In 2023, AI foundational software services accounted for 76.5% of the company's revenue, but by the first half of 2026, this contribution had dwindled to just 0.1%.
The company, known in China as 九章云极, began redirecting its resources toward computing infrastructure in early 2023. It subsequently expanded its offerings to include cloud services, shifting from a provider of software tools to a company that assembles computing infrastructure and sells access to its capacity.
DataCanvas filed for a Hong Kong listing on September 29, 2026, revealing the extent of this reinvention. The company, founded over a decade ago, is approaching the public market with its original revenue engine effectively shut down.
This strategic shift has led to substantial revenue growth. Total annual revenue climbed from RMB 106.2 million in 2023 to RMB 1.10 billion in 2025. Infrastructure solutions generated RMB 24.9 million in 2023 and rose to just over RMB 1 billion in 2025, accounting for 91.2% of total revenue. Cloud services also began contributing significantly, representing 26.1% of revenue in the first half of 2026.
