Datadobi adds Data Access Governance to StorageMAP

Datadobi announced the general availability of Data Access Governance (DAG) within its StorageMAP software. This new capability aims to provide organizations with visibility into who has access to their unstructured data and whether that access conforms to corporate policy.

The feature is designed to help enterprises discover, govern, and operationalize their data across fragmented environments. Datadobi states that the increasing volume of data, AI initiatives, and cyber threats are exposing the limitations of traditional approaches. DAG addresses a critical gap: organizations cannot govern, protect, or extract value from data they cannot see or control.

StorageMAP's DAG functionality offers administrators comprehensive visibility into access permissions across various data environments. This allows for the detection of misaligned permissions, reduction of cyber exposure, and scaled governance. This visibility is described as the essential first stage in a broader data management discipline.

The new feature extends StorageMAP's existing capabilities in data discovery, classification, risk assessment, and lifecycle management. Together, these features help organizations identify their data, align it with business value and risk requirements, and implement policy-driven actions. Datadobi suggests this supports AI initiatives, enhances cyber resilience, and reduces costs.

DAG has undergone beta testing with customers and is intended to support various enterprise use cases, including protecting sensitive data, minimizing the impact of data breaches, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Michael Jack, Datadobi's Co-founder and Chief Revenue Officer, emphasized that visibility into data access is a foundational step in transforming data from a source of risk into a driver of business value.
