Dating Apps Increasingly Used for Networking and Job Search
A new report reveals that 34 percent of dating app users are leveraging the platforms for professional networking and job seeking.

Dating applications are emerging as an unexpected tool for professional networking, particularly in job searches. According to a report by ResumeBuilder.com, nearly one in three dating app users, specifically 34 percent, have utilized these platforms for professional networking and seeking job opportunities.
The report, based on a survey of 2,225 dating app users, indicates that 10 percent of respondents used dating apps primarily for professional purposes. Key motivations for expanding their professional network included finding new job leads, seeking career advice, and arranging interviews.
Approximately 63 percent of those who used dating apps for professional reasons stated that their primary goal was to broaden their network. Specifically, 42 percent were looking for direct job leads, 40 percent sought job offers, 38 percent aimed to connect with potential mentors or career advisors, and 34 percent were interested in securing an interview.
Stacie Haller, chief career adviser at ResumeBuilder.com, commented that as traditional approaches become less effective, many job seekers are exploring alternative channels for making connections. "When the usual methods are not yielding results, it makes sense that people would start exploring other ways to meet the right people and find opportunities," Haller stated. She noted that the personal connection-focused nature of dating apps might make them a "worthwhile method to explore" for building professional relationships.
