The German Environmental Prize 2026 will be awarded by the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU) in Aachen on Sunday, October 25. The award ceremony and a preceding symposium will be broadcast as a livestream on the DBU's YouTube channel.
This year, the prize honors Hamburg-based environmental lawyer Dr. Roda Verheyen for her work on climate justice and Membion founder and managing director, membrane filter engineer Dr. Klaus Vossenkaul, for innovative solutions to preserve water as a vital resource. Verheyen is recognized as a proponent of climate justice, while Vossenkaul's company, Membion, focuses on advanced filtration technologies.
A symposium themed "GreenInnovations – Motor for Prosperity and Growth" will take place on Saturday, October 24. DBU aims to meet high sustainability standards for the event, seeking certification with the "Blauer Engel für Veranstaltungen" (Blue Angel for Events).
The DBU provides a media kit for journalists, including video material, stills, photographs, and sound bites of the laureates, available for download on their website. The award ceremony in Aachen highlights DBU's ongoing commitment to promoting environmental protection and sustainable development in Germany.
