Debian 13.7 Released With Security Patches and Bug Fixes
Debian 13, the stable release of the operating system, has received its seventh point release, version 13.7. This update incorporates security patches, bug fixes, and updates to critical infrastructure packages.
The Debian project has issued Debian 13.7, the seventh update for its stable operating system branch. The release focuses on integrating security patches, addressing software bugs, and updating key infrastructure components.
Debian 13.7 updates the Linux ABI used by the installer to version 6.12.107+deb13. The update includes a significant number of security advisories, ranging from DSA-6381 to DSA-6486. These address vulnerabilities in applications such as Chromium and Firefox ESR.
Existing users of Debian 13 can upgrade to version 13.7 by applying the available system updates. Reinstallation is not required. New users are advised to download the 13.7 installation images to minimize post-installation patching.
The update also provides security fixes for core packages including qemu, glibc, curl, samba, dnsmasq, ansible-core, and linux-signed. These changes aim to reduce risks associated with vulnerabilities, memory leaks, and buffer overflow attacks. Long-term support for Debian 13 is scheduled to continue until 2030.
