DeepSeek API Now Supports Web Search and Scraping

DeepSeek has expanded its API service to include web search and scraping functionalities. The new features are priced per request at 5 CNY per 1000 successful requests.

18 October 2026

DeepSeek announced on October 18 that its API service now supports web search and scraping functionalities.

The new features, dubbed Search and Fetch, are designed to provide real-time web content for agent and RAG applications. Both interfaces utilize DeepSeek's proprietary search engine. The Search interface queries the web and returns structured results, while the Fetch interface scrapes individual web pages, delivering content in Markdown format.

These functionalities are currently available through DeepSeek's Harness, Claude Code, and Codex platforms. DeepSeek stated that usage of these Search and Fetch interfaces has not been charged previously. However, billing will commence on November 1, 2026, at a rate of 5 CNY for every 1000 successful requests.

The API interfaces use the same Bearer authentication as the main DeepSeek API and are accessible via api.deepseek.com. This move integrates broader web access directly into the company's AI development tools.
