AI service provider DeepSeek reported a significant service disruption on October 15, lasting nearly five hours and impacting both its web and API functionalities. The outage began in the morning and was resolved by the afternoon.

In response to the disruption, DeepSeek announced a compensation plan for all API users. The company will refund the full consumption amount for API usage within the seven days preceding the outage (October 8-14) in the form of credits. These credits will be automatically applied to future billing.

DeepSeek stated that it has initiated a comprehensive review and rectification process to improve service stability and eliminate single points of failure, aiming to prevent future occurrences. The company apologized for the inconvenience caused to its users.

This incident marked the most significant service issue for DeepSeek this month. Reports of "server temporarily unavailable" messages emerged from users, and discussions about the outage gained traction on social media platforms.
