DeepSeek, Huawei Develop Programming Tools for Ascend Chips
Chinese AI firm DeepSeek has partnered with Huawei Technologies to develop programming tools optimized for Huawei's Ascend chips and related open-source software.

Chinese AI company DeepSeek announced on September 30 that it has collaborated with Huawei Technologies to develop programming tools optimized for Huawei's Ascend chips and associated open-source software.
The partnership emerges as Chinese firms seek alternatives to established ecosystems, such as Nvidia's, for AI development. The newly developed tools aim to enhance development efficiency and simplify the programming of AI chips.
DeepSeek stated that the release includes compute and communication libraries for the Ascend platform. The companies also jointly advanced a supernode system utilizing 128 Ascend 950 chips, indicating a move towards strengthening domestic AI hardware capabilities.
This announcement followed Huawei's introduction of its next-generation AI processors and supernode computing systems approximately two weeks prior. Huawei has previously projected that its AI systems will see widespread adoption for AI model training in the upcoming year.
