DeepSeek Launches Web Search and Data Fetching APIs for AI Agents

AI company DeepSeek has introduced its Search and Fetch APIs, enabling developers to integrate its proprietary search engine into AI agents and applications that require external information retrieval. This move aims to enhance the capabilities of AI systems in accessing and processing web data.

The Search API delivers structured web search results, while the Fetch API extracts a webpage's title and content in Markdown format. Both services are priced at RMB 5 (approximately $0.69 USD) per 1,000 successful requests. Failed requests, empty search results, and timeouts are not charged.

Developers can utilize these services using their existing DeepSeek API credentials. DeepSeek noted that server-side search and fetching calls made through tools such as DeepSeek Harness, Claude Code, and Codex are currently unbilled. Charges for these calls will commence at midnight Beijing time on November 1.

By offering these programmatic interfaces, DeepSeek seeks to empower AI developers to build more sophisticated agents capable of dynamic information gathering, potentially expanding their utility across various applications and industries.
