DeepSeek reportedly plans 160,000 Huawei chips in Inner Mongolia
AI developer DeepSeek plans to deploy at least 160,000 Huawei Ascend 950DT accelerators at a data center under construction in Inner Mongolia.

AI developer DeepSeek is reportedly planning to deploy at least 160,000 Huawei Ascend 950DT accelerators at a data center it is building in Inner Mongolia. According to sources familiar with the matter, the planned installation would represent one of the largest known clusters of Huawei's AI chips.
The company intends to use the processors for inference tasks, running its models to respond to users. Currently, there are no plans for the chips to be used for training purposes.
The planned chips would constitute only a portion of the facility's ultimate capacity, with the broader project targeting gigawatt-scale power consumption. The timing and scale of the deployment remain reported plans rather than a completed project.
