Defense Unicorns Awarded $350M Contract for Department of War Software Delivery
Defense contractor Defense Unicorns has secured a single-award IDIQ contract with the Department of War, valued up to $350 million. The agreement aims to accelerate software delivery for national security missions.
San Antonio, Texas – Defense contractor Defense Unicorns announced it has been awarded a single-award, Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract by the Department of War, with a ceiling value of $350 million. The contract facilitates streamlined access to the company's software products for national security missions.
The agreement, issued by Army Contracting Command Aberdeen Proving Ground, allows any Department of War organization to procure Defense Unicorns' Unified Defense Stack (UDS) Enterprise and UDS Fleet. These software solutions are designed for environments with intermittent connectivity and high operational demands, commonly found in defense applications.
Rob Slaughter, co-founder and CEO of Defense Unicorns, stated that the IDIQ contract makes their UDS platform available across the entire Department of War. He characterized the award as a shift towards modernizing defense acquisition by enabling on-demand access to commercial technology, balancing mission speed with security requirements.
Under the IDIQ vehicle, Department of War entities can issue task orders for Defense Unicorns' products without needing to conduct separate competitive procurements for each requirement. This process is intended to significantly reduce the time from need identification to software deployment. Defense Unicorns already serves various branches of the U.S. military, including the Navy, Air Force, and Space Force.
