DEHN introduces cloud solution for wind turbine lightning analysis
DEHN unveiled its new cloud platform, DEHNsphere, at WindEnergy Hamburg. The system analyzes lightning strikes on wind turbines, aiming to improve operational availability and facilitate maintenance planning.

DEHN has launched DEHNsphere, a new cloud-based digital platform designed to analyze lightning events impacting wind turbines. Presented at the WindEnergy Hamburg trade fair, the solution aims to provide operators with clear data on lightning strikes to improve turbine availability and optimize maintenance schedules.
Lightning strikes pose a significant risk to the operational safety and economic viability of wind turbines. Operators require reliable data to assess the actual impact of an event and plan necessary maintenance. DEHNsphere centralizes data collected by DEHN's DEHNdetect lightning current measuring system, providing analysis and a consolidated overview.
The DEHNdetect system, specifically developed for wind turbines, captures lightning events directly at the turbine. This data is then processed within DEHNsphere, which offers configurable notifications, event histories, and cloud-based analytics to support data-driven decisions regarding inspections and repairs.
DEHN also presented its engineering services, including DNV-certified solutions compliant with IEC 61400-24 for wind turbine lightning monitoring. Additionally, the company highlighted drone-based inspection capabilities to support asset management.
