DEHN introduces new connection technology for surge protection devices
DEHN has developed a new double screw technology for its DEHNguard MD series of surge protection devices. The new connector allows for wiring of different conductor types and enhances electromagnetic compatibility.

Long connection cables causing inductive voltage drops in control cabinets often pose a challenge for installers. DEHN addresses this with a new development in its proven connection technologies.
With the new double screw technology in the DEHNguard MD series of surge protection devices (types 2 + 3), the company reaffirms its leading position. This technology complements existing screw and plug connections, enabling the wiring of various conductor types. The pass-through wiring option provides additional flexibility for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) in applications with a nominal current of up to 63 A.
The double screw technology allows for continuous wiring ("V-connection") without additional pin terminals. This enables the use of conductors with larger cross-sections – up to 16 mm² for two pass-through cables or up to 35 mm² for a single connection. This ensures a robust connection that remains stable under vibration or mechanical stress.
The DEHNguard MD series with double screw technology offers particular advantages for EMC-compliant wiring according to DIN VDE 0100-534 / IEC 60364-5-53, as high inductive voltage drops do not occur on the connection cables. The pass-through wiring saves components and ensures maximum cable lengths meet standards.
DEHNguard MD has proven itself in power distribution and control cabinet construction, meeting strict requirements for current carrying capacity and safety. Areas such as building automation and critical infrastructure also benefit from the integrated double screw technology, as it allows for durable and low-maintenance connections. A potential-free remote signaling contact reliably indicates the status, and defective DEHNguard MD modules can be quickly replaced during operation without disconnecting the wiring.
