DEHN Joins Open Direct Current Alliance
DEHN, a specialist in lightning and surge protection, has joined the Open Direct Current Alliance to advance the development and standardization of DC technologies in the energy sector.

DEHN, a company specializing in lightning and surge protection, has become a member of the Open Direct Current Alliance (ODCA). The alliance focuses on promoting and standardizing direct current (DC) technologies, seen as crucial for the modern energy landscape.
DEHN's participation in ODCA highlights its commitment to shaping the future of the energy sector with sustainable and innovative solutions. DC technology is increasingly important for systems like photovoltaics, battery storage, and charging stations for electric vehicles. The company previously participated in the DC-INDUSTRIE research project, which explored the benefits of DC technologies in industrial applications.
"Our accession to the Open DC Alliance once again symbolizes our commitment to promoting sustainable and innovative energy solutions," stated Christian Höhler, CTO of DEHN SE. "We look forward to standing at the forefront of DC technology with other industry leaders and actively shaping the future of energy supply."
DC systems offer significant environmental advantages, including reduced energy losses and increased efficiency, leading to lower carbon emissions. They also enable more efficient integration of renewable energy sources and energy storage systems. Furthermore, DC systems can require substantially less copper for wiring compared to AC systems.
DEHN has dedicated many years to developing protection solutions for DC systems, offering tailored products including surge protective devices for solar energy systems and public transport networks. The company operates a dedicated testing facility to simulate and study overvoltages and DC networks.
