DEHN releases new clamp for steel structures

DEHN has introduced a new clamp designed to simplify electrical connections to steel structures within lightning protection and equipotential bonding systems. Previously, coatings on steel structures often prevented a direct, conductive connection, which is essential for effective lightning current dissipation and bonding.

The new clamp utilizes a special blade that penetrates protective coatings up to 0.2 mm thick without damaging the surface protection. This enables a reliable electrical connection in buildings with steel structures, such as industrial facilities, halls, and parking garages. The clamp is constructed from high-quality materials and is suitable for all situations requiring an electrical connection to steel beams, sheets, and profiles.

The clamp features an adjustable clamping range from 3 to 52 mm, providing flexibility during installation. It is approved for use in explosive atmospheres (Zone 2/22) and can withstand lightning currents up to 100 kA (10/350 µs). The product meets the requirements of the DIN EN 62561-1 standard and ensures a permanently safe and electrically conductive connection, even under high stress.

Available in various designs and materials, including stainless steel (NIRO, V2A) and galvanized steel (St/tZn), the clamp is suitable for round and flat materials as well as cables, making it highly versatile. Typical applications include lightning protection equipotential bonding, mounting air terminals without drilling, or connecting steel structures to grounding systems. A special 7-segment design allows it to function as a disconnecting point, which is advantageous for inspection and maintenance.
