DeKalb County allocates $100,000 to expand student mental health services

The Summit Counseling Center will utilize a $100,000 grant from DeKalb County to increase mental health support at two local schools.

6 November 2026

DeKalb County has provided $100,000 in funding to The Summit Counseling Center to bolster mental health resources for students. The initiative, spearheaded by Commissioner Robert Patrick, aims to increase the availability of professional counseling services within the school environment.

The investment will be directed toward Peachtree Middle School and Dunwoody Elementary School. By embedding mental health practitioners directly into these schools, the program intends to reduce barriers to care for students and facilitate easier access to professional support systems.

This funding addresses an ongoing regional demand for improved mental health infrastructure within the public education sector. The partnership marks a shift toward localized service delivery, allowing students to receive assistance without the logistical challenges of traveling to off-site facilities.
