Delectrik Systems to deploy India's first 100 MWh grid-scale battery
Delectrik Systems will deploy India's first 100 MWh vanadium-redox flow battery project for the electricity grid. The installation is scheduled for 2027.

Delectrik Systems will implement India's first grid-scale vanadium-redox flow battery project with a capacity of 100 megawatt-hours (MWh). The company secured the contract in partnership with Bondada Engineering Limited, an infrastructure solutions provider. The order was placed by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a subsidiary of India's largest integrated power utility, NTPC.
The facility is slated for operation in 2027 at the Khavda solar park, which is projected to become the world's largest renewable energy hub. Delectrik previously commissioned a smaller 3 MWh version of its flow battery system for NTPC at Greater Noida in 2025.
This project utilizes Delectrik's non-containerized flow battery architecture, designed for large-scale commercial, industrial, and utility applications. The company states it is India's first large-scale, lithium-free battery energy storage project and was entirely designed, engineered, and manufactured in India.
Delectrik aims for an order backlog of at least one gigawatt-hour (GWh) of flow battery capacity within the next 12 months, targeting India, Australia, ASEAN nations, and Africa. The company has established new subsidiaries to integrate vanadium production and offer energy storage as a service to commercial and industrial clients.
Long-duration energy storage is critical for integrating large amounts of renewable energy into power grids. Technologies like flow batteries are expected to be key in achieving the nation's energy transition goals.
