Delectrik Systems to Deploy India's First Industrial-Scale Flow Battery

Delectrik Systems has secured a contract to build India's first industrial-scale vanadium redox flow battery project, with a capacity of 100 megawatt-hours (MWh). The project, won in collaboration with Bondada Engineering Limited, was awarded by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, India's largest integrated power company.

The battery system will be installed at the Khavda Solar Park, which is slated to become the world's largest renewable energy park with a generation capacity of 30 GW by 2029. Delectrik previously deployed a smaller 3 MWh version of its flow battery technology in 2025 at Greater Noida for NTPC.

Dr. Vishal Mittal, founder and CEO of Delectrik, highlighted the significance of this utility-scale project for the nation's energy transition. Delectrik aims to secure a significant order pipeline for its flow battery systems in India and other global markets. The company has also established subsidiaries to vertically integrate into vanadium production and offer energy storage as a service.

Long-duration energy storage is critical for integrating large-scale renewable energy sources into the grid. Flow batteries are seen as a key technology for enabling secure, reliable, and sustainable energy transition, supporting India's ambitious renewable energy goals.
