Delhi High Court orders permanent blockage of 63 streaming websites
The Delhi High Court has permanently restrained 63 websites from hosting copyrighted films, following a lawsuit filed by six major global studios.
The Delhi High Court issued a permanent injunction on October 7, 2026, against 63 websites, including domains associated with 123MoviesHub and Putlocker. The ruling concludes a copyright infringement lawsuit brought by a consortium of major studios, including Disney, Netflix, Paramount, Universal, Warner Bros, and Columbia Pictures.
Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav ruled that the court could issue a summary judgment without oral evidence, citing the fact that the defendants had failed to contest the claims despite being served notice four years ago. The court found no merit in delaying the proceedings, stating that further evidence would be redundant to the existing record.
Under the court order, internet service providers are required to block the specified domains. The plaintiffs were also granted the right to apply for the inclusion of additional mirror and redirect domains to ensure the effectiveness of the injunction, although the court stopped short of granting a fully dynamic injunction.
