Delhi High Court Orders Real-Time Blocking of Websites Pirating Amazon's 'VIBE'
The Delhi High Court has ordered 11 piracy websites to cease unauthorized hosting, streaming, or downloading of Amazon's upcoming film 'VIBE'. The order was issued three days before the film's planned theatrical release.
The Delhi High Court has mandated that 11 piracy websites must stop distributing Amazon's upcoming film 'VIBE' without authorization. This includes halting any hosting, streaming, or downloading activities related to the movie.
The court's order, issued on September 15, came just three days prior to the film's scheduled pan-India theatrical release on September 18. The directive was made by Justice Jyoti Singh in response to a copyright infringement suit filed by Amazon Seller Services Private Limited.
In addition to ordering the piracy sites to cease operations, the court instructed domain registrars to lock and suspend the identified websites within 36 hours. Internet service providers (ISPs) were also directed to implement immediate blocking of these sites.
Amazon Seller Services Private Limited, which holds exclusive rights and copyright for 'VIBE', argued that the unauthorized distribution by these websites harms the film's commercial value and its subsequent exploitation. The company emphasized that piracy during the theatrical window can significantly impact a film's revenue potential.
The court found that Amazon had presented a strong case for an interim injunction and that the company faced irreparable harm without immediate legal protection. The ruling also allows for the real-time blocking of any other websites discovered to be illegally streaming or distributing 'VIBE'.
