Delta Gold Technologies Sponsors Quantum Computing Research at Penn State
Technology firm Delta Gold Technologies PLC has entered into a three-year, $3 million research agreement with Penn State University to explore nano-scale gold clusters for quantum information science.
Delta Gold Technologies PLC, a company developing intellectual property in quantum computing, has initiated a three-year research collaboration with Penn State University. The agreement focuses on the application of nano-scale gold clusters in quantum information science.
Under the terms of the agreement, Delta Gold Technologies will provide up to $1 million annually to support research aimed at characterizing and engineering the electronic and optical properties of gold nanoclusters. These "super-atomic" nanoclusters are considered promising candidates for next-generation quantum technologies. Previous research by Professor Kenneth Knappenberger at Penn State has indicated that gold nanoclusters possess key properties similar to current quantum information systems, offering added benefits of scalability and tunability.
Knappenberger's research group is internationally recognized for its work in ultrafast and electronic spin spectroscopy, as well as molecular-level investigations of nanomaterials. The university suggests this partnership will accelerate the research and provide flexibility to explore the potential of gold nanoclusters for quantum applications.
R. Michael Jones, CEO of Delta Gold Technologies, stated that the collaboration with Penn State University strengthens the company's intellectual property portfolio and aligns with its objective to establish a "center of excellence" in quantum computing research. The initiative aims to bridge fundamental research with commercial applications in the rapidly evolving quantum field.
