Deployable Energy Seeks Permit for Microreactor Construction
Deployable Energy has selected Sargent & Lundy for engineering and licensing support for the company's Unity-1 microreactor. The agreement supports preparation of a construction permit application to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Deployable Energy has selected nuclear engineering firm Sargent & Lundy to provide engineering and licensing support for its Unity-1 microreactor project. This collaboration is a key step toward Deployable Energy's planned submission of a construction permit application to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).
Sargent & Lundy will work closely with Deployable Energy's team to assist with safe shutdown and radiological analyses, initial system designs, and the preparation of a Preliminary Safety Analysis Report. These efforts are crucial for advancing the NRC licensing process.
The Unity-1 is a 1-MWe nuclear battery designed for manufacturability and rapid deployment. Its development has progressed, including a zero-power criticality demonstration earlier this year. Deployable Energy aims to secure the construction permit from the NRC as part of its broader development and licensing timeline.
Sargent & Lundy, with decades of experience in nuclear engineering, supports the company's strategy toward commercial operation. The company's objective is to make nuclear energy a readily available product, deployable quickly and reliably in areas lacking traditional infrastructure.
