DERMALOG Completes NIST FastCAP Qualification for Contactless Fingerprinting
Hamburg-based DERMALOG has successfully qualified its contactless fingerprint capture technology under the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) FastCAP program.
DERMALOG Identification Systems has finalized qualification testing under the Fast Capture (FastCAP) program administered by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The technology is now included in the NIST repository for systems meeting the stringent requirements outlined in Special Publication 500-339 for contactless biometric capture.
The FastCAP program assesses the capability of contactless systems to acquire ten-finger impressions without the need for traditional, touch-based optical scanners. The inclusion of DERMALOG's solution indicates that the software maintains data quality standards suitable for identity verification in rigorous, standardized environments.
This technology is intended for integration into mobile platforms and remote identity enrollment workflows. By removing the need for physical scanners, the system aims to improve hygiene and efficiency in high-volume settings. CEO Günther Mull stated that the qualification serves as a performance validation for the company's efforts to expand the adoption of contactless biometric identification.
