DERMALOG Contactless Fingerprint Technology Qualifies for NIST FastCAP Program
The Germany-based biometrics firm has met the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology’s requirements for contactless fingerprint capture.
DERMALOG Identification Systems has successfully completed the qualification testing for the Fast Capture (FastCAP) program conducted by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The Hamburg-based firm’s technology now appears on the NIST list of providers meeting the specifications outlined in NIST 500-339.
The FastCAP initiative evaluates the ability of contactless systems to capture high-quality fingerprint data from all ten fingers without requiring a traditional contact-based scanner. Meeting these standards confirms that the hardware produces biometric data suitable for secure identification under standardized, rigorous testing conditions.
Contactless capture is intended to increase the speed and flexibility of identity verification processes, including remote enrollment and mobile authentication. CEO Günther Mull stated that the qualification highlights the performance of the company’s technology, which is designed for high-volume environments where efficient and hygienic identification is required. This certification serves as a benchmark for the adoption of contactless biometric solutions in global security applications.
