Deutsche Glasfaser, a telecommunications company, has established a new corporate headquarters in the city of Borken, North Rhine-Westphalia. The company, a key player in connecting rural communities, is investing significantly in the expansion of digital infrastructure in these areas with the aim of creating what it terms "Heimat 4.0," representing a modernized and digitally connected rural environment.
The company, founded in 2012, operates as a private investor focused on developing network connections in rural regions. Local officials, including Borken District Administrator Dr. Kai Zwicker, have noted that rural development has transitioned from "catching up" to "overtaking." Minister Garrelt Duin has also highlighted the crucial role of fast internet access for the competitiveness of businesses in rural areas.
