Deutsche Telekom Achieves Record Month for Fiber Optic Network Expansion

Deutsche Telekom announced a record-breaking month for its fiber optic network expansion in July, installing 273,000 new connections. This figure surpasses the previous record of 266,000 connections set in September 2025. The expansion brings the total number of households and businesses able to connect to the network to 13.9 million.

With these new fiber connections, 13.9 million households and businesses can now access internet speeds of up to 2,000 Mbit/s. The company also stated that 38 million households can currently access speeds exceeding 100 Mbit/s, with approximately 33 million of those able to achieve up to 250 Mbit/s.

The growing demand for high-speed internet is reflected in usage patterns. According to the company's data, popular download services include entertainment and video streaming platforms like MagentaTV, YouTube, and Netflix. Conversely, upload speeds are primarily utilized by cloud services and communication applications such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Teams.

Customers must subscribe to a higher-tier plan to benefit from these increased bandwidths. Deutsche Telekom provides availability information on its website, in retail stores, and through its customer service hotline. The company also utilizes a WhatsApp channel to share updates on network expansion efforts.
