Deutsche Telekom Expands AI Assistant Capabilities
Deutsche Telekom's digital assistant "Frag Magenta" now utilizes generative AI and supports over 380 distinct customer requests, handling nearly 10 million conversations annually.

Deutsche Telekom has significantly expanded the capabilities of its digital service assistant, "Frag Magenta," by increasing its use of artificial intelligence.
The assistant, available on the company's website, within the MeinMagenta app, and via messaging platforms like WhatsApp and Apple Business Chat, can now manage over 380 different customer requests. These include inquiries related to moving services, new offers, billing, devices, and general service issues. For instance, it can automatically test and restart network connections when necessary.
"Frag Magenta" employs generative AI to understand natural language and provide context-aware responses. It can also access individual customer data post-login, enabling actions such as viewing mobile bills or changing bank account details. A voice-activated version of the assistant has been operational on the mobile hotline since late 2023.
According to Telekom, "Frag Magenta" handled close to 10 million customer conversations in 2024, resolving more than a third of requests immediately. When issues cannot be resolved by the AI, conversations are seamlessly transferred to human agents who receive a summary and transcript, ensuring continuity. The company maintains that personalized customer service remains a key differentiator.
