Deutsche Telekom Expands Fiber Network in Baden-Württemberg

Deutsche Telekom has expanded its fiber optic network in the German state of Baden-Württemberg, making connections available to approximately 1.8 million households and businesses. The company has been actively involved in fiber network construction in 833 municipalities across the state, either through direct build-out or ongoing construction projects.

The state government recognized 17 municipalities for their progress in fiber optic deployment. Deutsche Telekom has contributed to the build-out in 15 of these recognized municipalities, either through its own projects or in cooperation with partners. Stuttgart, Mannheim, Karlsruhe, and Freiburg are among the largest cities where Telekom offers the most extensive fiber optic availability.

The company emphasizes the importance of partnerships in its expansion efforts. It collaborates with several local utility companies and other partners to facilitate the development of fiber infrastructure. Telekom also bids for the operation of the fiber networks it constructs, enabling competitive service offerings to customers.

The expanded fiber network also supports the mobile network by ensuring faster data transmission to cell towers. Deutsche Telekom states that its infrastructure provides a significant advantage over competitors, as evidenced by numerous awards for its mobile network.
