Deutsche Telekom revamps MagentaTV platform with new tariff structure

Deutsche Telekom has updated its MagentaTV service by integrating the TVNOW PREMIUM streaming package into its core Smart tariff. This partnership with the RTL media group expands the available library to include a broad range of films, series, and live entertainment content.

In addition to the content expansion, the company has modified its commercial approach to prioritize user flexibility. Customers can now opt for one-month minimum contract terms rather than traditional long-term agreements. Furthermore, access is no longer restricted to Deutsche Telekom landline subscribers, as the service is now compatible with various streaming sticks and web applications.

The update includes the launch of the MagentaTV Box, which features integrated mesh WLAN technology to improve connectivity within the home. According to Michael Schuld, head of the TV division at Deutsche Telekom, the company is aiming to maintain growth in the domestic television market by bundling streaming services and hardware options.
