Deutsche Telekom to Deploy Fiber Network in Kempten

Starting in June, Deutsche Telekom will initiate a major fiber-optic network rollout in Kempten, Bavaria. The project, involving a multi-million euro investment, is designed to provide Fiber to the Home (FTTH) connectivity to approximately 25,000 households by the end of the year.

The deployment will focus on the city center as well as the districts of Lenzfried, Steufzgen, St. Mang, and Eich. Upon completion, the network is expected to offer download speeds of up to 200 Mbit/s and upload speeds of 100 Mbit/s. Project manager Ferdinand Tempel stated that the investment is intended to modernize the city’s digital infrastructure.

The initiative moved forward after a local survey confirmed that more than ten percent of residents were willing to sign pre-contracts. This participation rate serves as the benchmark for Deutsche Telekom's regional expansion strategy, signaling a broader trend of rising consumer demand for high-speed, multimedia-ready broadband connectivity across the country.
