Deutsche Telekom Showcases AI-Powered Services at MWC 2026

Deutsche Telekom used Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona to present its latest AI-based services and forward-looking technologies. A key highlight was the unveiling of an AI-powered call assistant designed to operate directly within the network, eliminating the need for separate applications.

AI-Assisted Calling Without Apps

The "Magenta AI Call Assistant" made its global debut at the event, offering real-time functionalities like translation, call summarization, and conversational task execution, such as making reservations or filling out forms. Abdu Mudesir, Deutsche Telekom's Board Member for Product & Technology, emphasized the service's goal of being intuitive and accessible to all users. The assistant activates via the voice command "Hey Magenta" and requires explicit customer opt-in. Developed in collaboration with ElevenLabs, the service will begin rolling out in Germany within the year.

AI Glasses and Digital Identity Solutions

Deutsche Telekom also presented a concept study for "AI Glasses," envisioning a hands-free AI experience that overlays digital intelligence onto the user's field of vision. These glasses are designed to recognize objects, translate text in real-time, and assist with tasks without requiring a smartphone. Additionally, the company introduced "Magenta Security Mobile.ID," a mobile security platform that transforms smartphones into universal keys for digital identities using NFC and Bluetooth. This allows the device to replace physical keys, access cards, and even identity documents.

Focus on European Digital Sovereignty and Future Networks

The company also highlighted its "sovereign clouds" initiative aimed at strengthening Europe's digital autonomy. Further presentations touched upon concepts for future mobile communications and internet technologies, including 6G and quantum internet. Mudesir stated that AI is a pivotal technology that will shape competitiveness and Europe's digital sovereignty.
