Deutsche Telekom showcased an AI-powered smartphone, flying network base stations, and self-healing networks at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Deutsche Telekom has highlighted its latest Artificial Intelligence (AI) based innovations at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona, presenting advancements for both consumers and its network infrastructure.
A central announcement was the company's first AI phone, designed to act as a virtual assistant for everyday tasks. This device allows users to order taxis, make reservations, perform real-time translations, and manage tasks across applications with simple voice or touch commands. The AI phone, integrating services from partners like Perplexity, is slated for release in the latter half of the year.
Deutsche Telekom is also expanding its "Magenta AI" offering within the "MeinMagenta" app, bringing generative AI tools to all customers free of charge. New features launching this summer include Google Cloud AI for real-time object recognition via a smartphone camera, ElevenLabs for text-to-podcast creation, and Picsart for image personalization. The company aims to democratize access to advanced AI technologies.
In network technology, Deutsche Telekom demonstrated a flying base station concept for extending mobile coverage to remote or difficult-to-reach areas. Additionally, the "WiFi Sensing" technology was showcased, which uses Wi-Fi signals to detect movement and changes within an environment, acting as a camera-free security system. The company also emphasized its vision for future networks to be autonomous, self-healing, and resource-efficient.
Beyond consumer applications, Deutsche Telekom presented AI solutions for business clients and the public sector, addressing areas such as efficiency in legal documentation and enhancing cybersecurity through advanced decoy systems.
