Deutsche Telekom Uses AI to Benefit Customers and Employees

Deutsche Telekom is implementing Artificial Intelligence (AI) across its business to improve both customer and employee experiences. The company states its AI usage aims to solve business problems and increase productivity, keeping people at the center of its strategy.

The company leverages AI in various sectors, including fiber optic network rollout, where it assists with planning and accelerates deployment. In cybersecurity, AI identifies attack patterns. For business clients, Telekom offers tailored AI solutions, with over 200 specific applications already in use across different industries.

Deutsche Telekom is not developing its own large language models independently but relies on strategic partnerships. The company follows a "Taking, Shaping, Making" approach: acquiring ready-made solutions, adapting market solutions for its needs (such as through a global telco AI alliance), and developing proprietary solutions (like chatbots and operating systems).

Telekom has committed to ethical AI practices since 2018 and has established principles for green AI to promote sustainability. The company has trained approximately 90,000 employees in AI-related skills and founded an AI Competence Center to support secure and ethical AI adoption.
