Deutschlandradio and INA to Present 'Forgotten News' List
Deutschlandradio, in partnership with the Initiative Nachrichtenaufklärung (INA), will reveal its annual compilation of significant topics that have been underreported by the media. The results will be presented at a digital press briefing on April 2, 2026.
Public broadcaster Deutschlandradio, in collaboration with the Initiative Nachrichtenaufklärung (INA), will present its annual list of the top ten "forgotten news" topics on April 2, 2026. This joint digital press briefing aims to highlight significant issues that have received insufficient media coverage.
The "forgotten news" list focuses on subjects of societal relevance that are often overshadowed by major global crises, such as conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, or domestic political events. According to Deutschlandradio and INA, the constant focus on breaking news and the resource constraints of newsrooms limit the space for in-depth reporting on other important matters.
INA, a non-governmental organization, has partnered with Deutschlandfunk, Deutschlandradio's news department, for many years to draw attention to these information gaps. The selection process for the "forgotten news" includes proposals from the public, which are researched by students from various German universities. A jury of academics and journalists then curates the final top ten list.
During the digital press briefing, experts including Prof. Dr. Hektor Haarkötter, Chairman of INA, and Dr. Marco Bertolaso, Head of News at Deutschlandfunk, will discuss the findings. The event is organized by INA and will be accessible via Webex. Interested media representatives are required to register via email to receive an access link.
