Developer ports Huawei HarmonyOS 6 to Apple MacBook Pro
An independent developer has successfully installed and operated Huawei’s HarmonyOS 6 on an Apple MacBook Pro.
A video posted on the Bilibili platform demonstrates the successful operation of Huawei's HarmonyOS 6 on Apple’s MacBook Pro hardware. The system identifies the machine as a Huawei Qingyun L410, with core features such as windowed applications appearing to function during the demonstration.
The project utilizes a modified Linux kernel to bridge compatibility between Huawei’s software and Apple’s architecture. While the interface is functional, the developer acknowledged that the system currently suffers from several unresolved technical issues that limit stable operation.
This development follows a recent surge in cross-platform installation projects within the enthusiast community. Recent instances include users running HarmonyOS on OnePlus and Xiaomi hardware, as well as porting iOS to Huawei tablet devices, signaling a broader trend of unauthorized hardware-software interoperability.
