DEVK Versicherungen Updates Legal Protection Insurance Terms

DEVK Versicherungen has issued updated consumer information regarding its legal protection insurance for non-self-employed individuals. The document outlines key details of the policy and its conditions.

15 October 2026

DEVK Versicherungen has provided updated information concerning its legal protection insurance policy tailored for individuals who are not self-employed. The updated documentation, effective from December 13, 2023, offers consumers a comprehensive overview of the policy's core features and contractual terms.

The insurer states that the primary function of the legal protection insurance (DEVK-ARB 2017) is to cover the necessary costs for asserting the insured's legal interests within the agreed scope. The full extent of the insurance coverage, including specific benefits and conditions, is detailed in the General Conditions for Legal Protection Insurance (DEVK-ARB 2017). Coverage is available following the occurrence of an insured event as defined by the policy.

The legal protection insurance contract is established with DEVK Rechtsschutz-Versicherungs-AG, headquartered in Cologne, Germany. German law governs the insurance contract and any pre-contractual relationships. The agreement becomes effective upon the insurer's acceptance of the application through the issuance of the insurance certificate, after which a right of withdrawal is available.

The policy is initially set for the calendar year and subsequently renews annually unless terminated at least three months prior to its expiration. DEVK Versicherungen is also a member of the German Insurance Ombudsman (Versicherungsombudsmann), providing a free, out-of-court dispute resolution mechanism for policyholders.
