Devsisters' Cookie Run Animated Film Slated for 2029 Release

South Korean game company Devsisters has partnered with Hollywood studio Big Shot Pictures to develop a feature-length animated film based on its Cookie Run IP. The movie is targeting a global theatrical release in 2029.

12 October 2026

South Korean game developer Devsisters announced a partnership with Hollywood studio Big Shot Pictures to produce a feature-length animated film based on its popular "Cookie Run" intellectual property. The film is slated for a worldwide theatrical debut in 2029.

The production will be helmed by Big Shot Pictures, founded by Brian Robbins, who previously served as co-CEO of Paramount Global and led Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon. Devsisters will be involved in setting the core creative direction for the film. Big Shot Pictures focuses on animated family entertainment.

The "Cookie Run" IP originated from the 2009 running game "OvenBreak." It has since expanded into a global brand encompassing multiple titles, including "Cookie Run: Kingdom" and "Cookie Run: OvenBreak," which have garnered over 300 million users across 248 countries.

The 2029 release date coincides with the IP's 20th anniversary. Devsisters also plans to launch an open-world adventure game, "Cookie Run: New World," in the same year as part of its anniversary initiatives.
