The report finds that AI is transitioning from an advisory capacity to autonomous systems capable of planning, decision-making, and execution within supply chains. This includes forecasting shortages, rerouting shipments, and adjusting transport capacity.
New trends highlighted include Agentic AI, AI Commerce, Compute Economy, and Humanoids. DHL emphasizes that logistics will remain heavily reliant on human workers, with wearable technologies, collaborative robots, remote operations, and AI assistants transforming numerous roles.
Themes such as Employee Belonging and the Augmented Workplace emerge as crucial, alongside AI Ethics and Cybersecurity 2.0. Sustainability continues to be central, with decarbonization, alternative fuels, and electrification influencing logistics strategies.
DHL states that the primary challenge for organizations will be integrating increasingly sophisticated technologies with human expertise, effective governance, workforce development, and resilient supply chain design.
