Digia and Finnish wellbeing services counties develop AI solutions for health data use
Digia's subsidiary and Finnish wellbeing services counties have launched a project to develop AI and data utilization solutions for safe and interoperable health data access across Europe, backed by €4.6 million in funding from Business Finland.

Digia Plc's subsidiary, Productivity Leap, in collaboration with Finnish wellbeing services counties, has initiated a project focused on creating advanced AI solutions for managing and utilizing health data. Business Finland is supporting this endeavor with €4.6 million in funding. The project is largely driven by the EU's upcoming European Health Data Space (EHDS) regulation, which mandates standardized and secure cross-border access to health information.
The "Roadmap to the Finnish Health Data Space" project aims to develop solutions leveraging AI and data platforms to streamline and accelerate the safe, uniform use of health data for healthcare, research, and development. Participants include major entities such as Helsinki University Hospital (HUS), the Wellbeing Services County of Pirkanmaa, the University of Helsinki, and companies like Orion Plc, GE Healthcare Finland, and Biocomputing Platforms.
This initiative is expected to enhance Finland's standing as a leader in data-driven healthcare solutions and boost the competitiveness of the participating companies. Digia's subsidiary will concentrate on developing solutions for health data integration and AI-powered analytics, potentially opening avenues to international markets.
The role of wellbeing services counties in fostering innovation through collaboration with businesses and research organizations is highlighted as crucial for achieving growth and export expectations in the health sector. The project is anticipated to yield valuable insights and experiences regarding the implementation of EU regulations, benefiting university hospitals and national decision-making bodies.
