Digia sells Rauma's local support business to Vakka-Suomen Puhelin

Digia Oyj has sold its local support business in Rauma to Vakka-Suomen Puhelin Oy. The business transfer became effective on August 1, 2020.

The divested business provided server management and local support services to customers in the Rauma area. As part of the transaction, four Digia employees transferred to Vakka-Suomen Puhelin as continuing employees. The sale does not impact other operations at Digia's Rauma office.

Jaarno Ropponen, Director of Project Portfolio at Digia, stated that the local support business, which was focused on Rauma, was small and separate from Digia's core operations. He indicated that Vakka-Suomen Puhelin is better positioned to develop this type of business regionally.

Business Director Julle Rintala of Vakka-Suomen Puhelin noted the company employs nearly 40 IT experts in Pori, Rauma, Turku, and Uusikaupunki. He mentioned Vakka-Suomen Puhelin aims to become a major IT operator in Western Finland, offering comprehensive IT services with local strength. The acquisition is expected to strengthen the company's regional position and support its growth strategy.

The purchase price has not been disclosed.
