Digia's AI Predicts Finnish Ice Hockey Champion

Digia Oyj's artificial intelligence model successfully predicted Tappara as the Finnish Ice Hockey League (Liiga) champion, with Pelicans taking silver and Kärpät securing bronze. The AI's forecasts proved accurate from months prior to the season's conclusion.

The AI identified Tappara as the champion as early as December, while Pelicans' silver and Kärpät's bronze were determined earlier in the spring. This predictive accuracy highlights AI's potential as a decision-making support tool in the business world.

Throughout the regular season, Digia's AI model demonstrated a 76% success rate in predicting game outcomes, outperforming both bookmakers and sports journalists. The software and service company Digia aimed to illustrate AI's capacity to facilitate better business decisions and outcomes.
